How do I export my Contacts from Outlook?
Here are some general directions to follow, though instructions may vary by version. For more detailed instructions, open 'Help' in Outlook or Outlook Express and type 'export' in the search box.
From Outlook:
1. Select File > Import/Export > Export from the main menu
2. Choose Comma Separated Values (Windows) > Select "Contacts"
3. Save exported file
From Outlook Express:
1. Select File > Export > Address Book from the main menu
2. Select Text File (Comma Separated Values)
3. Click Export |

1. Sign in to Gmail.
2. Click Contacts (located below your list of views) on any Gmail page
3. Click Import in the top portion of the Contact Manager
4. Click the Browse... or Choose File button and locate the CSV file you'd like to upload
5. Select the file and click the Import button
Once you've successfully uploaded the document, Gmail will display the number of contacts imported. |

How do I change my email password?
1. From your Gmail inbox screen, click on Settings (upper right of screen)

Will I use the same email Password that I use now?
No. You will be assigned a new email password. Your initial password will be your birthdate in MMDDYY format.
You will be required to change your initial password when you login for the first time. You will also be required to accept Google's Terms of Service (TOS). This is the screen you'll see:

How do I access Gmail from
my Outlook 2003/2007 program?
To Add Your New Account To Outlook:
- In Outlook, go to Tools and choose Account Settings
- Click on Add…
- Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP
- Check Manually Configure server settings box and click Next
- Select Internet Email and click Next
- Enter your name and email address (username@ltu.edu)
- In Account Type, select IMAP
- The incoming mail server is imap.gmail.com
- The outgoing mail server is smtp.gmail.com
- In the Login information, for username enter your full email
address (username@ltu.edu) and your password
- Go to More Settings and click on the Outgoing Server tab
- Check Require Outgoing server authentication with the same
settings as your incoming server
- Go to the Advanced Tab
- For type of encryption for Incoming Server, choose SSL, the port
number should be 993
- For the Outgoing Server, choose TLS for the type of encryption,
then change the port number to 587
- Click OK and Next to Finish the setup

How do I make Gmail my default email client?
1. Download Firefox 3 (this tip requires the latest version of Firefox)
2. Go to Gmail and sign in.
3. Copy & paste the following into the Firefox address bar and hit enter:

That is a feature being tested right now and is part of Google Labs. To enable the Calendar lab in your inbox, go to Settings -> Labs and find the Calendar widget. Check Enable and scroll down to save your settings. |
